Terms of Service

As a professional accountant, I am committed to the ethical and objective completion of accounting tasks as agreed to between myself and my clients. As your accountant, I will pursue each task with the due care and competence required. I will maintain, secure and confidential, your records, with the only exceptions by your express permission or to comply with the law.

To help maintain adherence to these standards, a preliminary contract will be negotiated with each client prior to accepting any work, and we will discuss my typical practices, my normal fee scale, expectations for my performance, and expectations for the client. I say a preliminary contract only in the sense that I will be open to renegotiation of terms in exceptional circumstances, to add further unforeseen services, and to align the contract to the work I am doing. I will not commence work until we have an understanding in contract form of each parties’ responsibilities in the transaction.

In order to adapt to a client’s availability and capacity, I am willing to document any accommodations or exceptions that need to be made, provided that it is clear what tasks will or will not be possible with the addition of the accommodations or exceptions. For example, if your capacity to discuss financial information is highly variable, we may need to work together on a schedule to meet appropriate deadlines, or you may need to acknowledge that I will not meet a deadline and you will be responsible for the penalties from other agencies that might occur if due dates are not met. I will do what I can to mitigate such occurrences, but I can only proceed with required information, for both legal and ethical purposes.

When signing a contract with me, I expect the client to follow a reasonable schedule, and pay promptly. I am open to a fair number of payment and barter arrangements, provided that ample communication is present and continuing. A client must not withhold information necessary to complete tasks in a timely fashion, and the schedule which is considered timely can be negotiated in the contract.

I look forward to accomplishing great things together!
